Police Officer’s Wife Touches Pregnant Homeless Woman’s Stomach Only To Find Out It’s Their Baby In The Womb

As a police officer, there are some people you encounter more than others. Despite your differences, you try to build a rapport with these individuals and care for them when you can. For Santa Rosa Police Department Officer Jesse Whitten, there was one drug-addicted woman on the street with whom he shared that kind of bond. Jesse would always stop by to make sure she was okay, check on her health and chat for a few minutes (if he wasn’t taking her in for a crime). One of the times Jesse ran into the woman, he was with his wife Ashley. At first, Jesse didn’t notice anything different, but then he looked down and saw her protruding stomach…

Ashley told CBS about the conversation that followed, “I mentioned, ‘Oh, you are pregnant,’ and she said, ‘Oh yeah,’ and placed my hand on her womb.” From there, the women chatted about pregnancy – the goods, the bads and the uglies – raising children, and life in general. But it wasn’t until several months later, when the Whittens were at a Valentine’s Day party, when they received a call from the last person they were expecting.

It was a social worker, and they explained the homeless woman specifically asked for the Whittens to adopt her baby girl. At first, they were overwhelmed by the offer. But the more they thought about it, the more they felt it was the right thing to do! Jesse and Ashley rushed to the hospital and welcome their brand new baby girl, Harlow Masie Whitten, into the family with open arms. The birth mother obviously knew how great of a life the Whittens could give her baby. Now she’ll have a real shot at a happy childhood and a lifetime of success. We can only hope that when Harlow gets older, she can understand and respect the difficult decision her biological mother had to make before her birth!
